Dr Funmi Ige
President
Dr. Funmi Ige is the President of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Lagos State Branch. She is a physician Anaesthetist and a healthcare manager and administrator.
She heads the Anaesthesia Department, General Hospital, Ifako Ijaiye, where she combines clinical practice with administrative and management acumen to improve patient care delivery.
Dr. Ige has held key executive positions, including that of Secretary (2013-2015) and Treasurer (2017-2019), and chaired various committees before being elected to the office of the President of MWAN, Lagos State Branch for the 2023-2025 biennium.
Dr. Funmi Ige is a product of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL, Idi Araba), where she got her MSc. Biochemistry and MBBS degrees in 1993 and 1998, respectively.
She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Anaesthesia from the University College Hospital, Ibadan, an Advanced Professional Diploma in Hospital Management and Administration (APDHMA) and a Certificate in Leadership in Management and Health from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC).
Dr. Ige is passionate about teaching and mentoring and has a personal motto: 'Helping Hand'. She is committed to using her skills to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
